[Vídeo do Dias] The WATERBOYS Fisherman´s Blues

Fisherman´s Blues é o nome da bela canção de abertura do terceiro e estupendo álbum do Waterboys, e que também serve como alcunha do tal.

Apesar de muitos acreditarem que esta banda seja irlandesa, o The Waterboys foi formado em Londres, pelo escocês Mike Scott. A confusão é compreensível, pois seus integrantes - recrutados por Mike - tem procedência irlandesa.

Principalmente no disco citado acima, com músicos provenientes de Dublin e de Spiddal, uma província turística típica do Reino Unido. A relação de empatia com o U2, que sempre os elogiou e a contemporaneidade com o quarteto famoso, também reforça o equívoco.

Mike e sua banda atingiram o ápice entre 1985 e 1988. Tudo (re)começou com o lançamento de This Is The Sea, uma coleção de canções majestosas, produzidas com perfeição por Mike. A atmosfera ambiciosa do álbum resultou em momentos mágicos como: "The Whole of The Moon", "Don´t Bang The Drum" e "The Pan Within".

Três anos depois somos brindados com um novo e grandioso projeto, arquitetado pela mente brilhante de Mike Scott, o "Blues dos Pescadores". Para começar, o gênio e líder dos `Boys lançou sua rede para capturar grandes músicos, escolhidos a dedo e capazes de executar o que ele desejava, ou seja, um mix de música celta, folk tradicional, uma pítada de gospel, blues, e claro, rock and roll.

O desfecho não poderia ser melhor, Mike e sua "big music" desfilam canções simples, às vezes com doçura e romantismo, outras, de forma àspera e rude. Tudo isso calcado em letras de magníficas de dúbio sentido, compostas através da visão espiritualista de Mike Scott.

Um desses momentos pode ser conferido abaixo, num vídeo gravado ao vivo na época do lançamento do álbum em questão. Aqui a banda se mostra impecável, exala todo o sentimento contido, talento inegável para misturar na dose certa vários elementos da música, provando que ela é universal e atemporal.
